Annie Loh
Annie joined Sonn Macmillan in July 2022, and in July 2023 began her training contract. Annie is an extremely hard working, intelligent trainee, gaining in experience in all areas of criminal defence.
Annie is currently supervised by Amy Cox and works in the Crown Court department, but also assists other solicitors in the firm including working on some magistrates' courts cases. Annie is currently training to become accredited to represent clients at the police station.
Annie studied for her Law degree at University College London in 2020, and went on to obtain a Masters in Criminal Justice Policy from the London School of Economics in 2022. She is due to complete her Legal Practice Course in 2024, and has received a Career Commitment Scholarship from BPP University. Annie’s academic achievements have given her a great grounding to become a successful trainee solicitor.
To date, Annie’s experience includes working on cases concerning large scale drugs conspiracies including complex Encrochat prosecutions, money laundering matter, offences involving serious violence and firearms, and serious sexual offences. She has also assisted in prosecutions brought by the Insolvency Services and the Environment Agency, and worked on confiscation proceedings and a case involving an allegation of contempt of court.
Annie takes pride in her work, always completing tasks to the best of her ability. Annie has excellent writing skills and has developed expertise in preparing letters of representations to the CPS asking that they reconsider decisions to prosecute cases. She is skilled in carefully considering complex areas of law, such as different sentencing options in firearms cases, and is able to convey her knowledge to her clients with clarity.
Annie shows a great determination to pursue every possible lead that could assist her client’s case, for example taking numerous statements from potential defence witnesses. She truly cares about results for her clients.
