Ahlam Omar
Ahlam joined Sonn Macmillan Walker in August 2023, In September 2024, she began her training contract.
Before joining Sonn Macmillan Walker in 2023, Ahlam worked for His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Services and then within the extradition department at a West London criminal defence firm. Ahlam completed her law degree at City, University of London in 2018 where she was awarded the Lord Mayor of London Scholarship for Academic Excellence and The City Law School Prize for Outstanding Performance in Criminal Law. She then went on to complete a Masters’ specialising in legal practice at the University of Law in May 2023.
Ahlam has developed a wide range of knowledge and experience in the complex area of extradition. She regularly prepares Magistrates and High Court extradition cases under the supervision of Katy Smart. Ahlam has successfully assisted in defeating extradition requests from various states. Ahlam has actively participated and prepared cases from several requesting states including: Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, France, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Türkiye and USA.
Ahlam prides herself on her committed client care. She completes work to the utmost standard on all of her cases. She frequently deals with clients who suffer from complex mental health problems and has built a great rapport with clients and their families.
