Football fan found not guilty of causing Grievous Bodily Harm
15 August 2023
In proceedings before Harrow Crown Court, Sonn Macmillan Walker represented a man who was accused of assaulting a fellow football fan outside of Wembley Stadium on the 7th August 2021 when Leicester City FC played Man City FC in the FA Community Shield.
Our client was accused of punching the victim, knocking him to the ground and into a concrete wall which resulted in a fractured skull. Our client was charged with causing s.18 GBH, with charges of s.20 GBH and Actual Bodily Harm (ABH) to be considered in the alternative.
Our client accepted he kicked the victim once to the knee but maintained that someone else delivered the telling blow a few seconds after. The Jury found him not guilty of all charges and he remains a person of good character without any previous convictions or cautions recorded against him.
Daniel Cavaglieri of Sonn Macmillan Walker instructed Oliver Renton at Crucible Law.
