Acquittal of Class A and B drugs supply at Snaresbrook Crown Court

Daniel Cavaglieri

20 December 2024

Our client was found not guilty after a trial by jury at Snaresbrook Crown Court in December 2024. The allegations date from 2022. This was a long awaited result for our client.

Our client was a part-time mechanic. He was found with a moped which was shown to be stolen. The registration plate was altered. When the garage he was working in was searched, the following was found: cannabis, white powder, grinder, snap bags, scales, plastic containers, and £580 in cash.

The white powder was shown to be cocaine. The Crown Prosecution Service instructed a drugs expert who valued the amount of cocaine at £1,560.

It was our client's defense that the cannabis and cocaine were for his own personal use. He had previously kept cocaine in the garage, but someone else used it and then replaced it with a larger amount. He did not know that the moped was stolen, as it was given to him by a friend to work on in the garage.

This case was prepared by Daniel Cavaglieri of Sonn Macmillan Walker. Molly Dyas of 2BR Chambers was the barrister who represented the client at Court.
