13 Count Modern Slavery Trial

David Kitson

31 May 2024

Our client faced 13 counts of conspiracy to hold persons in servitude, conspiracy to require persons to perform forced or compulsory labour and trafficking for exploitation between 2012 and 2019.

Ten victims were trafficked from the Czech Republic, were put to work in an industrial bakery and a car-wash, and their wages were channelled back to the first defendant through our client’s bank account. He was found guilty of all except one of the counts.

The trial took place over four months in the beginning of 2024 at Southwark Crown Court

David Kitson was the leading barrister, and Nick Murphy of 25 Bedford Row Chambers was the junior barrister. Amy Cox was the instructing solicitor.
