SMW Take on the Legal Walk 2024

19 June 2024

Members of Sonn Macmillan Walker took part in the London Legal Walk 2024 and pledged to walk 10 kilometres to raise money for the London Legal Support Trust (LLST).

On Tuesday 18th June 2024, a team from Sonn Macmillan Walker walked alongside The Lady Chief Justice and thousands of other solicitors and barristers to support access to free legal advice. The Legal Walk takes place annually and this year celebrated its 20th anniversary.

The 10-kilometre walk began at Carey Street, taking us through the Royal Parks and back to the street party to celebrate after. We also saw many of our friends from the legal profession along the way and enjoyed some refreshments at the halfway mark.

This year our walkers included: Euan Macmillan, David Sonn, Katie Lobo, Annie Loh, Izzy Fish, Ahlam Omar, Hugo Cheema-Grubb, Morwenna Hocken, Ellie Godwin, Enrico Braguglia, Allison Hochhalter, Fionnuala Halfacre and Alex Whitmore.

Sonn Macmillan Walker have so far raised over £550 in support of the LLST’s goal of raising £1 million in total this year. Thank you to everyone who has sponsored us and supported our fundraising efforts.

At SMW, we believe in access to justice. Increasingly, free legal advice agencies are struggling to meet the needs of some of the most vulnerable in our community. However, equality under the law is one of the central tenets of our society. That’s why we chose to take part in the Legal Walk to raise funds and awareness of this vital right. Through donations the LLST are able to support over 100 free legal advice charities each year, helping to provide free specialist legal advice.

We have joined the Legal Walk on previous years and hope to continue supporting the vital work of the LLST by participating in years to come.
